Mike Pondsmith Discusses Involvement in Cyberpunk 2077, Confirms Character Classes



Despite being revealed in 2013, not much is known about CD Projekt RED’s next project. We know slightly more now, though, as Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith, who is working as a consultant on the video game adaptation of his beloved board game, recently did several interviews. He revealed some exciting news that’ll definitely please fans of property.
Here’s what Pondsmith had to say when asked by GameReactor if character classes from the board game (specifically odd ones like journalist, rockstar, and executive) would be in CD Projekt RED’s upcoming title.

“Yes, you can. They?re all going to be there, but I can tell you?re going to find some surprises about how we?ve done it and I think you?re really going to like it. There?s a lot of subtlety going on there. Adam (Kici?ski, CD Projekt RED?s President and co-CEO) and I spent literally like a whole week messing with the ways of implementing that, so you get the most feel for your character.”
Pondsmith also discussed just how involved he is in the game with Eurogamer. He told the outlet that CD Projekt RED didn’t know he had experience working on video games before, and that’s when the deal shifted from a simple licensing deal to him becoming a consultant. “When I write new stuff for Cyberpunk now, I talk to them so what I do in 2030 matches up with what’s going to happen in 2077,” revealed Pondsmith. “It allows them the ability to move forwar...
