‘Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale’ is a Follow-Up to the Excellent Card-Based Dungeon Crawler ‘Meteorfall – Journey’
Meteorfall – Journey ($3.99) from developer Slothwerks is one of our very favorite card-based dungeon crawlers. I mean, we loved it in our original review from January of last year, but that doesn’t even tell the whole store as Slothwerks has updated the game many times since that initial release, and it has become both a bigger and better experience in that time. One of the best things about Meteorfall is its binary action system that work similarly to swiping left and right in the Reigns games. This simplifies things in a very satisfying way that fits the mobile platform super well but also retains a lot of strategy of a more complex card battler. However, what if Slothwerks DID make a more complex card battler" What exactly would that look like" Probably a lot like Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale, which is the new game announced today that is built on the foundation of Meteorfall’s mechanics and features many of the same characters from the original game, but expands that binary action mechanic into a grid-based system that pretty much changes the whole dynamic of the game.
Exciting, no" What’s not so exciting is that Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale is quite a ways off, and will go through Steam’s Early Access program on desktop before making its way to other platforms like iOS and Android.
