Top 10 Trends Shaping the Future of Imagery (Infographic)
Visual media has become an important part of the digital and social world. Indeed, Cisco Systems predicts that visual media will account for more than 80 percent of internet traffic by 2019. From still images, infographics and GIFs to short, long and live video, visual content drives engagement and message recall on social media.
To celebrate the growing influence of visual media online and its collection of 100 million images, stock photography marketplace Shutterstock asked its community what the future holds for imagery. While last year?s trends were a play on nature, duality of being plugged in and unplugged and the elements, this year?s trends are a bit more edgy and driven by the evolution of technology. For instance, mobile photography is the No. 1 trend, according to Shutterstock, no doubt being propelled by to the proliferation of mobile-first visual platforms like Snapchat, Instagram and Periscope. Likewise drone photography is on the rise and among the top trends in imagery. Other trends include contextual images, daily stories and high ISO images.
