‘Yokai Dungeon’ from ‘Super Cat Tales’ Developer Neutronized is Now Available
It’s a good day for stragglers as there’s a couple of high-profile games that have launched after our normal weekly round-up. One is the surprise port of the beloved roguelike platformer Rogue Legacy from Cellar Door Games which we told you about earlier today (and you really should just buy as it’s on an incomprehensible 99¢ launch discount until the 11th, which is beyond a steal). Then there’s a game I’ve been looking forward to since we first posted about it a month ago, and that game is Yokai Dungeon (Free) from solo developer Gionathan Pesaresi aka Neutronized. It’s a top-down roguelike where you’ll travel from room to room in tiny randomized dungeons clearing out all the enemies in each one. The catch is that you don’t really have a weapon of your own, but you sure can kick things real good, so the way you take out enemies is by kicking boxes or vases or whatever into them. It ends up feeling like a spin on the Bomberman formula as you wait for an enemy to get into that perfect position for you to take them out, or take a more proactive approach and set up the level obstacles in a way that traps them in a dangerous spot. Check out the trailer.
As you progress, the dungeons get bigger and more complex, and each one ends with a fight against a huge boss. You’ll also run into shops in each dungeon where you’ll be able to pick from a selection of different power-ups and special items to help you along you...
