'Deus Ex Go' Developers Talk About Distilling the Franchise Into a 'Go' Game
This story is about a game with Go in the title, but, surprisingly, it's not about Pokemon GOÂ [Free]; it's actually about the upcoming Deus Ex Go by Square Enix Montreal, which began the Go trend. Deus Ex Go will be the third in the Go series after Hitman Go [$4.99] and Lara Croft Go [$4.99], and expectations are quite high since the first two were great fun. In a recent interview, Etienne Giroux, Game Designer at Square Enix Montreal, talked about the challenges of bringing the Deus Ex franchise to mobile and of turning it into a Go game. The first important change was of course a switch in the perspective, from first-person to the top-down view familiar to anyone who's played the other Go games.

The developers wanted a kind of a clean slate for the mobile game because they didn't want to turn away mobile gamers unfamiliar with the Deus Ex franchise. So, Deux Ex Go will be totally self-contained. At the same time, they wanted to pay respects to the original games, and they did so by including many small details - like camera angles and camera movement along with the overall layout and puzzle design - to help retain the feel of the original.
