Gameloft’s ‘Asphalt’ Games and ‘Dragon Mania Legends’ Among First to Receive Xbox Live Integration
Way back in the spring of 2014 Microsoft had aspirations to bring their Xbox Live service to mobile developers in a flexible and easy to implement way. It wasn’t until this year that it seemed that dream would become more of a reality as a small leak on the GDC schedule back in February hinted that a cross-platform software development kit for Xbox Live was on its way, and in mid-March they made it official with Microsoft’s gaming cloud chief Kareem Choudhry officially announcing the development kit. Today we have word on what some of the first titles to take advantage of Xbox Live will be. Gameloft has announced that they’ll be integrating Xbox Live into three of their most popular titles, Asphalt 9: Legends (Free), Asphalt 8: Airborne (Free), and Dragon Mania Legends (Free).
As to what sort of Xbox Live functionality will be in each of these games, the press release states “Players will be able to unlock Xbox achievements, view their Xbox friends list, and compare their rankings with Xbox leaderboards, and more." It also sounds like Gameloft is considering adding Xbox Live to even more of their titles down the road, but are just starting out with these three flagship titles first. Updates adding in Xbox Live will be arriving “in the coming year" which is pretty ambiguous but I’m definitely looking forward to checking out the Xbox Live functionality in these Gameloft games whenever they do hit.
