Square Enix Will Reveal a New Mobile ‘Dragon Quest’ Game Next Week in a Live Stream and Here Is Where You Can Watch the Announcement
While the series has been around for decades, I only really got into Dragon Quest through the spinoff titles on PS4 before properly giving the franchise a shot on 3DS with Dragon Quest VIII ($19.99) which is superb. Since then, I’ve bought them on iOS and slowly been playing through the older titles before loving Dragon Quest XI. If you’ve not played a game in the series before, read Shaun Musgrave’s review of it here. Today, Gematsu has some good news from Japan for mobile gamers with a new Dragon Quest mobile game announcement.
Next week, Square Enix will have a presentation that you can watch above. It will reveal a new Dragon Quest game for smartphones that promises to be a new experience. Dragon Quest series game designer Yuji Horii will be present on the live stream. A few days ago, there was news that Square Enix would have “shocking" news for the franchise in June and it looks like this is related to the mobile game.
Expect this to be free to play because it doesn’t look like Square Enix will do a premium new game in the franchise for mobile like they have done with Final Fantasy. Hopefully they consider porting the Nintendo DS only Dragon Quest IX at some point or even the 2D version of Dragon Quest XI eventually. There are many Square Enix mobile games that are only available in Japan so don’t get your hopes up for a Western release yet. What Dragon Quest games have you played and enjoyed"
