Twitch to Bring Periscope-Style "IRL" Live Streaming to Mobile App Next Year

Twitch has announced that it's bringing mobile broadcasting to their app, but perhaps not what you'd expect. Twitch is introducing broadcasting similar to Periscope or Facebook Live that people can do from the app, starting next year. As part of the new IRL category, broadcasters now have a place where they can share random videos with the world that aren't related to gaming nor would be a good fit in the Creative category. Mobile IRL streaming isn't ready quite yet for general consumption, but Twitch is taking beta signups right now.

While this isn't quite streaming games to Twitch from an iOS device, it's easy to see where this could be a starting point for them. After all, Mobcrush and Periscope support ReplayKit Live streaming, and if Twitch gets users used to broadcasting from their phones, this could easily be a next step for them. There's no reason why they couldn't do Twitch streaming from Fire tablets, either. Though on iOS with ReplayKit Live having slow adoption, maybe streaming to Twitch straight from mobile could just be a pipe dream. We'll always have TouchFish [Free] though. Which is still going, by the way!
