Brian Monahan Joins Pinterest as Head of Vertical Strategy
Pinterest went shopping at Walmart.com and came away with a new head of vertical strategy.
Brian Monahan joined the social network in that role, after serving as head of marketing for the retail giant?s online presence.
Monahan is tasked with developing and managing marketing programs to increase awareness, enhance adoption and drive revenue growth in verticals including consumer packaged goods, retail, entertainment, auto, technology and telecommunications, financial services, travel and quick-serve restaurants.
He is based in Pinterest?s headquarters in San Francisco, reporting to head of partner marketing Cat Lee.
Prior to Walmart.com, Monahan was the co-founder of media and events company NewCo, and he also held several roles at agency holding company IPG. Pinterest president Tim Kendall said in an email to SocialTimes:
We’re excited to have Brian Monahan join Pinterest. His tremendous advertising experience and leadership will fuel strong partner growth across all of our strategic verticals.
Monahan added:
There are lots of places for marketers to invest that will show good results on paper but not really move the needle. Pinterest has the scale, the commercial intent and the sophisticated ad products to help partners grow.
