Facebook Login Updated for tvOS, FireTV, Android
Facebook last week announced improvements to Facebook Login for television and Android.
Software engineer Chris Pan detailed the changes in a blog post, writing that following the update to Facebook?s software-development kits for tvOS and Android/FireTV, those SDKs can communicate directly with the social network?s application via users? wireless networks, enabling them to sign in to their TV sets with ?just a few taps.?
(function(d, s, id) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.8";
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));Pan also elaborated on the changes to Facebook?s Android SDK:
Facebook Lite: In the absence of the Facebook app, we can use Facebook Lite to deliver a two-tap login experience. Over the past few months, we’ve seen a 60 percent increase in login success rate for people using Facebook Lite across 4,500 apps.
Chrome Custom Tabs: We have also been monitoring results since we released the ability to open the Facebook Login dialog via Chrome Custom Tabs. In the few months since launch, for people on Android who are not logged into the Facebook app but have Chrome, we’ve seen a 62 percent improvement in successful logins when Chrome Custom Tabs is enabled.
