Google Allo Messaging App Launches on iOS, Android
Google announced the release of Google Allo on iOS and Android. The smart messaging application allows users to chat with others in one-on-one and group chats.
As users send text, pictures, videos and emoji in Google Allo, the app’s Smart Reply feature will suggest responses users can send based on the topic of the conversation. For instance, if a user receives a picture of a puppy, one Smart Reply suggestion may be, “Super cute!”
Google said the Smart Reply feature will become better over time as it adjusts to users’ typing styles.
Elsewhere, users can send stickers in conversations (the app includes more than 25 sticker packs) and change the size of the text they type by dragging up or down on the send button. The app also includes an Incognito chat mode, which features discreet notifications and expiring messages. Messages sent in Incognito mode have end-to-end encryption.
Finally, the app includes a preview edition of the Google Assistant chat bot. Users can chat with the Google Assistant one-on-one and ask it questions about the current weather, movies, local businesses and more.
Users can also activate the Google Assistant within chats by typing “@Google” and then typing a question or prompt. For instance, users can type, “Show me nearby Italian restaurants,” to add a list of nearby locations to the chat.
Google Allo is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
