Instant Articles Come to Facebook Messenger
Facebook?s Instant Articles were rolled out on Messenger for Android Thursday, with the iOS version of the application to follow ?in a couple of weeks.?
Vice president of messaging products David Marcus announced the launch in a Facebook post, writing:
Over 900 million people share and read news stories privately on Messenger. From now on, this experience will be meaningfully improved as stories will load up to 10 times faster than standard mobile web links, and will be enhanced with dynamic features that make the content more fluid, interactive and immersive.
Look for the lightning bolt in news articles to signal this new experience on Messenger. As always, try it out and let us know how we can make it even better for you. Product manager Josh Roberts added in a Facebook Media blog post:
When you tap on an Instant Article link in Facebook, it loads up to 10 times faster than a standard mobile web article, so it was important to make sure everyone on Messenger could have the same great reading experience. As we roll this out over the next several weeks, people using Messenger will see a lightning bolt on the top right corner of some links shared in Messenger, which indicates that the link is an Instant Article.
