Pokemon Go Is Coming to Apple Watch
Niantic announced at Apple‘s press event in San Francisco Wednesday that it is bringing Pokemon Go to Apple Watch.
Pokemon Go allows users to capture Pokemon by exploring the real world around them. With Pokemon Go on Apple Watch, users will be able to record any walks they take while playing Pokemon Go as “workouts” within the Apple Watch application. During a workout, the Apple Watch app will display the user’s current workout time, distance traveled and calories burned, and it will also show a selection of nearby Pokemon.
The Apple Watch app will notify users when wild Pokemon appear, and players will be able to take out their phones to try to catch them within the main Pokemon Go app. In addition, the Apple Watch app will alert users when they’re near PokeStops. Users will be able to collect items from PokeStops by swiping on the Apple Watch’s screen. When a user ends their Pokemon Go workout, the Apple Watch app will show a summary of their activity, including their workout time, distance traveled and calories burned, as well as any items they collected during the workout.
Elsewhere, users will be able to keep track of how far they need to walk to hatch Pokemon eggs on the Apple Watch screen. When players walk the required distances, they will be able to hatch Pokemon eggs on the Apple Watch.
During the Apple event, John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic, said Pokemon Go has surpassed 500 million worldwide downloads...
