Where Did Facebook Fall on the List of Top Election News Sources"
Facebook has received a lot of the blame, or credit, for the results of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, but how many voters actually relied on the social network as a news source"
Pew Research Center surveyed 4,183 U.S. adults between Nov. 29 and Dec. 12, and it found that 8 percent of them cited Facebook as their main source for election news, trailing Fox News at 19 percent and CNN at 13 percent.
Other findings by Pew included:
40 percent of respondents who supported President-elect Donald Trump cited Fox News as their main source for election news, blowing away second-place CNN, at 8 percent. CNN was tops among supporters of Hillary Clinton, but the gap was nowhere near as wide: 18 percent cited CNN as their top news source, while MSNBC, Facebook, local television news, NPR, ABC, The New York Times and CBS were all named by between 5 percent and 9 percent of Clinton supporters.
7 percent of Trump supporters said they got their election news from Facebook, along with 8 percent of Clinton supporters.
