2017 BitSummit Details Announced, Developer Applications Now Open

Dates have been set for the fifth annual BitSummit event in Kyoto, Japan. Titled A 5th of BitSummit, it will be held May 20-21, 2017 at Kyoto's Miyako Messe. Developer submissions are open until January 19, 2017.
BitSummit was Japan's first major independent video game event, beginning in 2013 as a one-day affair with developers and members of the press crammed into a space too small to hold them all. Since 2014, it's been held at the Miyako Messe convention center.

A 5th of BitSummit will be open to the public on May 20th and 21st from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The event will also be open for a special media session on Friday, May 19th, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and Saturday morning, May 20th, from 8:30am to 9:30am.

The event is expected to grow in 2017, with a planned 80-100 game developers from both Japan and abroad showcasing their latest works, and attendance expected to surpass 7,000 visitors over the course of the weekend. Entry fees are ¥2000 (approximately $20 USD) for adults, ¥1000 (approx. $10 USD) for students, while elementary students and younger may attend for free. (2-day entry)
Developers looking to submit to A 5th Of BitSummit can do so between now and January 19th, 2017. More information on the application process can be found on the BitSummit homepage, including details about booth costs, sizes, and included equipment.

Additional information regarding special guest speakers, musicians, and sponsors are to be unveiled in the coming months.
