Sam Contino won't take it anymore. The city's going to hell, being torn apart by three rival factions. Somebody has to step up and do something about that, so Sam turns vigilante, brawling and shooting his way up the crime ladder. And that's where you come in to add some brains to Sam's brawn. Vigilantes is a turn-based tactical RPG that claims to beat with an old-school heart. This sounds like music to my ears.

Turn-based Vigilantes is Timeslip Softwork's second game, after the tower defense/action hybrid Deadstone. Inspired by classic 90s games like X-COM and Fallout, it goes for a pulpy, gritty crime theme. There's a whole bunch of stats for every character, and you actually improve your talents by putting them to good use, which is something I really dig. Melee combat is nicely animated and looks pretty cool, and if you really have to use those pesky guns - well, that's also an option.
After two years of development, the game is almost feature-complete and needs just a tiny kickstarter-fueled push over the finish line. However, developers Timeslip Softworks don't expect you to hand over your money without having sampled the product, so they offer a pretty extensive demo for you to download. And finally, Vigilantes is also looking for some Greenlight votes.
