Shenzhen I/O Looks Like The Circuitry-Based Lovechild Of SpaceChem and TIS-100
If you know of the developer Zachtronics, you probably know what his specialty is as well. Aside from the mech-CCG/turn-based combat hybrid Ironclad, most of his games have revolved around the puzzling potential of programming, from the pseudo-chemistry of SpaceChem and the alien construction of Infinifactory to the old-school coding of TIS-100.
So it's no surprise that Zachtronics' next game continues to explore that area, with the circuits and microcontrollers of SHENZHEN I/O.
The short teaser trailer of SHENZHEN I/O showcases its core mechanics, as you place circuits and type code into microchips to make information on an LCD screen. Essentially, it looks like the distinct "code" factories, pipelines, and outputs of SpaceChem combined with the assembly language of TIS-100, on a grander scale than the latter's mechanics. Rather than the basic grids of input boxes of TIS-100, here you can drag and place different kinds of inputs, such a column of letters and logic gates. This freedom will allow you to solve challenging puzzles and design your own games and devices in a sandbox mode.
Alongside the brain-twisting puzzles, you'll also be able to learn more about the Shenzhen Longteng Electronics Co and play a "brand-new twist on solitaire", or perhaps you'll want to refine your coding skills by reading through the 30-page digital manual of datasheets, reference guides, and technical diagrams that comes with the game.
