Capcom Reports Decrease in Net Sales Due to Lack of Major Releases
Capcom Co. Ltd. has announced its consolidated business results for the first six months of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017. The company’s net sales amounted to 28,676 million yen, which is a decrease of 9.4 percent from the same period in the previous year. Operating income was 1,715 million yen (down 39.7 percent from the previous year), and ordinary income was 514 million yen (down 82.2 percent from the previous year).
Capcom attributed its financial results to a lack of major releases during the period. “As the launch of major titles will be concentrated in the second half of the year, the majority of titles released during this period were minor or catalog titles,” reads the financial report. We’re told that Monster Hunter Generations and re-releases of titles from the Resident Evil franchise experienced “solid sales” overseas, however. Looking forward, Capcom’s forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017 remains the same as it expects things to pick up when Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Dead Rising 4 are out in the market alongside pachislo machine Monster Hunter Kyoryu Sensen.
