Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Expansion Coming to PS4 & PC, PS3 Support to End
At the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Las Vegas, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, a new expansion coming to PlayStation 4 and PC in early summer 2017.
With Stormblood, you’ll head to Ala Mihgo, where the goal is to regain control from the Garlean Empire. XIIth Legion Legatus Zenos yae Galvus, ruler of the occupied Ala Mhigo, will be the main adversary in the expansion.
In addition to the level cap raising from 60 to 70, Stormblood includes new jobs, more actions for each job, a revamped battle system, an overhaul of the skill systems where skills are shared by roles instead of jobs, a re-assessment of unused/ineffective actions, new dungeons, new Alliance Raids, new gear and recipes, a fourth Residential Area, an increase to player inventory size, and more. All in all, Stormblood will have a full standalone game’s worth of content, and new areas will be comparable in size to the ones seen in Heavensward. Square Enix also revealed that Stormblood isn’t coming to PlayStation 3, and their support for FFXIV on PS3 will end when Stormblood is released, due to a shrinking player base. On the plus side, Square Enix will let PS3 players upgrade to the PS4 version for free.
Expect more details about Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood at the Fan Festivals in Tokyo and Europe.
