Manufacturer Behind Humvee Vehicle is Suing Activision Over its Use in Call of Duty Games



The manufacturer behind the Humvee vehicle are suing Activision over the appearance of the military vehicle in Call of Duty. According to AM General, Activision has been incorporating its Humvee trademark without permission in the Call of Duty games, the line of toys based on the franchise, and in strategy guides. In the lawsuit – which was filed in Manhattan – AM General accused Activision of ?taking advantage of its goodwill and reputation.?
Per the lawsuit, AM General added that Call of Duty?s success has come ?only at the expense of AM General and consumers who are deceived into believing that AM General licenses the games.? That?s a bit of a wild claim, but I guess when you?re trying to sue someone, you have to use whatever you can. AM General went on to say that Call of Duty?s use of the Humvee is ?a key selling feature of the game,? which?I don?t know about that. Whatever the language of the lawsuits states, it?s pretty clear that the Call of Duty franchise has certainly used Humvees over the years. The vehicle is in pretty much all of the Call of Duty titles, including: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Heroes, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
