Microsoft Tried to Buy Nintendo at One Point to Secure Exclusive Games but Got Laughed At
Kevin Bachus, former director of third-party relations at Microsoft, has revealed that the company?s gaming arm attempted to buy Electronic Arts and Nintendo 20 years ago in order to secure exclusive games. While EA simply said, ?no thanks,? Nintendo officials ?laughed their asses off? at the suggestion.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Bachus revealed that approaching Nintendo was former CEO Steve Ballmer?s idea. ?Steve made us go meet with Nintendo to see if they would consider being acquired,? he said. ?They just laughed their asses off. Like, imagine an hour of somebody just laughing at you. That was kind of how that meeting went.?
