PlayStation UK Explains the No Man’s Sky Refunds

Here’s a story that keeps turning up like a bad penny: more talk on No Man’s Sky refunds. While numerous reports have come in that Steam and PlayStation both are handing out full refunds for the game, even those who have logged in 50 hours, it seems that’s not entirely true. Steam, PlayStation, and Amazon have granted full refunds, but all three companies have explicitly stated that these aren’t unconditional refunds.
PlayStation UK explained to IGN that only those who have experience in-game technical issues can request a refund. Everyone who requests a refund must go over a list of the troubleshooting options with the customer service rep before your case is even sent to the investigation team. It’s this team that decides if your case warrants a refund or not. Amazon UK also said that they determined refunds on a case-by-case basis.  As for Steam, they have planted an orange box on the game’s store page stating that the standard Steam refund policy applies to No Man’s Sky. This means that they will provide a refund within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of play time.
It’s very possible that those who received a refund for the game with 50 hours of play time were more of the exception than the rule. If you have a retail copy of the game, the only way you can get any money on the opened product is to trade it in to Gamestop, which is currently only giving $12 for the title.
