Revised PlayStation VR Headset Releases Soon, Features Several Upgrades
An updated PlayStation VR headset is set to release soon. Called the CUH-ZVR2 headset, it features integrated headphone cables, a “slimmer, streamlined” connection cable, and an updated Processor Unit. Previously, players had to disconnect the Processor Unit if they wanted to use HDR on their PlayStation 4, but now it features a “HDR pass through” that removes the inconvenience.
Here’s how Sony described the upgraded unit on their website:
A hardware update to PlayStation VR is being prepared. The new version, model number CUH-ZVR2, features an updated design that enables the stereo headphone cables to be integrated with the VR headset and a slimmer, streamlined connection cable. There?s also an updated Processor Unit that supports HDR pass through, enabling users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without having to disconnect the Processor Unit in between the TV and the PS4 system. This function can be used only when the VR headset is turned off. Overall, it features a bunch of small changes that are great news for those picking a new headset up, but likely won’t upset current owners. No exact release date is confirmed for the bundle, but they did say that they’re preparing to launch it when means it should be in stores sooner rather than later.
