Riddled Corpses Ex was released digitally back in June last year, but it?s now being given the physical release treatment courtesy of Red Art Games. (Editor?s Note: We didn?t review the game with its original launch, so this review is to celebrate the retail release of the game. Content is unchanged from the digital to the physical release.) The game is an arcade-like twin-stick shooter with pixel style graphics and an energetic chiptune soundtrack.
There are a few different modes for you to get your teeth stuck into, but you?re likely to start off in story mode. While the game does have a storyline it ultimately comes across as very generic and completely forgettable. It has something to do with an experiment gone wrong and a ragtag bunch of survivors working together to take out hordes of undead and demonic creatures. It?s a story that has been done a million times before and it?s difficult to really care about any of it. Thankfully this doesn?t turn out to be too much of an issue as the gameplay is entertaining enough that you?ll be too busy blasting through swarms of monsters to really want to know why you?re doing so.
