Sony Talks No Man’s Sky, Says Hello Games Is Working to Get Closer to Their Original Vision
Sony Interactive Entertainment America President Shawn Layden was on Live with YouTube Gaming last night, where he discussed No Man’s Sky, which was published at retail for PlayStation 4 by Sony.
As you can see in the video above, as well as the transcript below, Layden talked about how Hello Games is still working on updating No Man’s Sky to get it closer to their original vision, as well as how Sony learned that they don’t want to stifle ambition:
I think Hello Games, Sean Murray and his team, had an incredible vision of what they were going to create. Something never done before. And a very small team had a very huge ambition. Now, they?re still working at it. They?re still updating it. They?re trying to get it closer to what their vision was. […] I think what we learned from that is that we don?t want to stifle ambition. We don?t want to stifle creativity. We don?t want to put people into slots where they must execute against an action-adventure path, or a fighting path, or a shooting path. And perhaps, over time, it will reveal itself to be all that it can be.
After saying only six people were working on No Man’s Sky when he first visited Hello Games, Layden added:
