Sony Trademarks Syphon Filter Again in Europe
Folks over at Gematsu have spotted a fresh trademark application for Syphon Filter filed at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The application is dated Wednesday, November 8, and is currently under examination.
ResetEra users have pointed out that the company had to file a new trademark application for Shadow of the Colossus to work on the remake so it’s quite possible that a reboot of sorts is in the pipeline. Many continue to hope for a new game, however.
While the timing does make us wonder if Sony has an announcement planned for this year’s PlayStation Experience, we advise against holding your breath until further notice. That said, we won’t be surprised if Sony does have something planned considering fan demand for Syphon Filter. Back in early 2015, the game’s lead designer Jeff Ross said in an interview that any new title in the series would have to be “fresh one way or another” in terms of story and gameplay.
The last Syphon Filter game and the sixth in the series, Logan’s Shadow, released in 2007 for PlayStation Portable.
As usual, we’ll keep our readers updated. In the meantime, let us know what you make of this.
