The Assassin’s Creed Movie Made $22.5 Million In Its First Six Days
In its first six days since release, the Assassin’s Creed movie made $22.5 million in the United States, according to Box Office Mojo. Over the Christmas weekend, it made $15 million, putting it in 5th behind Why Him".
Carrying a budget of $125 million, the Assassin’s Creed movie was expected to have a six-day opening of $35 million, but fell well short. Fox Domestic Distribution Chief Chris Aronson isn’t worried though, as he believes it will perform well internationally.
“This start exceeded our modeling,” he said, as reported by Variety. “We?ll be the beneficiaries of a strong holiday play period.” Looking at Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, another Ubisoft property turned into a movie, it opened with $37.8 million domestically and eventually grossed $90.8 million domestically on a budget of $200 million.
