‘Alchemic Dungeons DX’ Adds More of Everything, Available Now
A few years ago, an enjoyable Japanese-style roguelike called Alchemic Dungeons launched on iOS. Then the latest work of Japanese indie Q-Cumber Factory, it added a crafting system to the familiar Mystery Dungeon-style framework. I rather liked it when I reviewed it at the time. The game eventually made its way to other platforms including the Nintendo 3DS.
When it was time to make the jump to the Nintendo Switch, Alchemic Dungeons got a big boost. Dubbed Alchemic Dungeons DX, this version saw the graphics and audio improved, and basically more of everything was added. A few more characters, new dungeons, more items, and so on. Kind of an expanded remaster of the original, with lots of new content to poke around at.
While it’s been a little while since Q-Cumber put out any new games on iOS, the developer has cooperated with publisher Flyhigh Works to bring this spiffy new version to mobile. It’s going under Alchemic Dungeons DXÂ ($3.99), the same title it bears on Switch and Steam. Note that while this is a distinct new app and thus requires a new purchase even if you owned the original, the price of both versions together is still lower than Alchemic Dungeons DX sells for on other platforms. Anyway, it’s great to see this game get a second wind like this. There is so much new in this version that it really could pass for a sequel if the developer wanted, and it’s great to see it released on mobile. If you’re looking for a cool rogue...
