One of the best Metroidvanias on mobile, Dandara ($14.99), is going to get an update soon that addresses a few of the game’s issues. The big one is that now the map can rotate with the screen with a new “Align with Camera" button. Previously, the map stayed oriented to true north, while the game might turn a vertically-oriented room sideways for gameplay purposes. This was the most confusing thing about Dandara, and the update will let you see the map oriented to the room’s north, alleviating a lot of the confusion with navigating the world. Additionally, levels are seeing some added details to differentiate rooms to a greater degree, and make backtracking a bit easier.

If you’re playing the iOS/tvOS version of Dandara, then great news: the game’s getting iCloud support, so you can bring your progress from your phone to your tablet, and even to your Apple TV. The iCloud support might make this number one version compared to the Switch!. It’s definitely a unique entry in the Metroidvania genre, with the lack of ‘platforming’ and the way you launch yourself through the world. Plus, the difficulty has some bite to it, though I’d love to see more checkpoints appear in the world.
