An Official Statement from Mojang States that ‘Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series’ Will Be Delisted from All Storefronts Later This Month So Make Sure Everything Is Downloaded
Games getting delisted is sadly nothing new and the digital only future will see many games lost thanks to various issues. On most storefronts, if a game is delisted, owners of said game can still download their old purchase but new customers will not be able to buy said game. On the App Store, Apple doesn’t seem to care about preservation with many games, songs, and more being removed from purchases with no way to play unless they were downloaded on your devices. Over the weekend, Mojang had an announcement about Minecraft: Story Mode (Free) and Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 (Free) on various storefronts.
Since Telltale Games is sadly no more, these two releases will not be supported after June 25th on all platforms. The wording in the official announcement that you can read here implies that you need to have all episodes downloaded before June 25th to be able to play them. If the wording applies to all storefronts, this will be one of the rare Steam games to be pulled from purchases as well with no way to redownload officially.
It is pretty disappointing that Mojang and Microsoft can’t do anything about this given how big Minecraft is. I wasn’t too fond of the first season of Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series but it looks like the only way new players will get to experience them after June 25th is through the few platforms that had a complete disc or physical release like the Switch version. Did you pay for these on iO...
