We are coming up on the one-year anniversary of developer Hidden Variable Studios announcing that, for the first time in more than 5 years, they would be bringing a brand new playable character to the Skullgirls mobile game in 2020. In August we learned all about that new character, Annie of the Stars, a peripheral character in the Skullgirls universe at large who already had a very fleshed-out back story and a character who fans had previously hoped might become a playable character someday. In October Annie arrived as part of the version 4.4 update to Skullgirls Mobile.
Along with Skullgirls on mobile, Hidden Variable also announced that Annie of the Stars would make her way to Skullgirls 2nd Encore on PC and console as well sometime in early 2021. Well, during the Frosty Faustings competitive fighting game event that was held online over the weekend, Hidden Variable dropped a brand new trailer for Annie’s forthcoming 2nd Encore arrival, and it includes a tasty tease at the very end.
Yes, as confirmed by Hidden Variable in an FAQ over on the Skullgirls Mobile forums, development is already underway for another brand new character following the warm reception of Annie on mobile last fall.
