Back at the Tokyo Game Show in September of 2018, we got our hands on an early version of an upcoming card battling game called Causa, Voices of the Dusk from developer Niebla Games. Like pretty much any other card battler that has descended from the framework created by Magic: The Gathering, Causa has you assembling a deck and taking it into competition against an opponent and their own created deck. The wrinkle here is your ability to sacrifice cards in your deck to increase your energy pool, which as the pool gets higher lets you play more powerful cards into the game. However, you can also bring back those sacrificed cards and play them if you’re willing to take the hit to your energy pool, and this balancing act between energy and the cards in your hand at any given moment is the crux behind Causa. While originally planned for release in 2019, Causa has taken a bit longer than anticipated, but it’s getting ready to hit a major step forward when it launches into Steam Early Access just shy of two weeks from now on May 26th.
