Double Fine and Playables Announce Trippy Experimental Project 'KIDS' Coming to Mobile and Desktop this Year



Double Fine's indie game publishing arm Double Fine Presents makes a point of partnering up on projects that are really artsy and unique, like Mountain [$0.99] from David O'Reilly or GNOG [$4.99] from KO_OP Mode, to name just a couple of examples that are on mobile. And that theme is definitely alive in well in the latest project that they've announced called KIDS in partnership with production company Playables. To use their own description, "KIDS is an experimental project about the psychology of the group. The final products are an interactive animation, a short film and an exhibition." That interactive animation will come in the form of a game that'll launch on iOS, Android, Mac and PC sometime later this year. And did I mention that KIDS is kind of a trip" Check out this teaser.

If that animation style looks familiar, it's because Playables is co-founded by Michael Frei who you may know from the award winning short films Not About Us and Plug & Play, the latter of which was turned into a short interactive game that was launched on the App Store back in 2015.
