Fan-Favorite Action Platformer ‘Sword of Xolan’ Updated with Full Screen iPhone X Support
Regular readers know that a game having full screen support for iPhone X and later devices is a big deal to me. It’s nice that older games can still be playable in a window-boxed fashion, but it’s hard for me to stomach those big black borders and especially hard that those borders aren’t an active control area for those games, meaning my fingers will often slip off the edge of a windowed game and screw up my control. It’s frustrating. I maintain a folder on my iPhone of my favorite games that still haven’t been updated with full screen support just in the hopes that someday they will be, but with the iPhone X debuting more than two years ago now it’s becoming more and more unlikely that those favorites will be updated. But the dream isn’t over just yet! Today one of my very favorite platformers Sword of Xolan ($0.99) received full screen support for modern devices, and it’s glorious!
If you aren’t sure what a Sword of Xolan is, it’s an action platformer from indie developer Alper Sarikaya that originally released back in May of 2015. It features some really nice pixel art, a good dose of humor, and some excellent platforming mechanics. It’s definitely a fan-favorite among platforming fans, and although it doesn’t have quite as extensive of RPG mechanics, Sword of Xolan feels like a distant cousin to another fan-favorite called Goblin Sword ($1.99). We loved Sword of Xolan in our original...
