'Joe Dever's Lone Wolf' is Back on the App Store
A couple of weeks ago, I featured Joe Dever's Lone Wolf [Free / $11.99] in the 99th installment of the RPG Reload. Unfortunately, when I started my usual preparations for the article, I noticed that the game was missing from the App Store. Its publisher, Bulkypix, has been having some issues of late, and I suspected that might have been the cause. Well, I'm still not sure exactly why it happened, but the game has returned to the App Store, this time published by its developers, Forge Reply.
Joe Dever's Lone Wolf is a unique RPG/gamebook hybrid that brings Joe Dever's classic gamebook character to life. While the story portions of the game look for all the world to be another ordinary gamebook app, when a battle occurs, the game shifts into a fully-polygonal combat scene. It's an eye-popping effect, and the intricate battles certainly add a unique spin to the gamebook formula. The game originally came in episodic form, with four acts in total. A complete version of the game was released after. Both versions of the game are now on the App Store again. If you bought the Bulkypix-published release, you should still be able to get that from your purchase history. You can even restore your IAP purchases in the episodic version. It doesn't seem like the Forge Reply episodic version "remembers" your purchased episodes from the Bulkypix version, so it seems like these will be treated as separate apps. If so, that's a bit of a bummer, but I'm just glad to see the game make...
