Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 releases worldwide tomorrow but reviewers who’ve been playing the game since last week have noted one serious problem; it takes almost five minutes to load.
Eurogamer and PlayStation LifeStyle’s own Martin have tested PS4 copies so we can’t speak for other versions of the game but at least on Sony’s console, the issue occurs when you initially load the game or travel to one of the four in-game regions. When Eurogamer brought the issue to light, CI Games responded by saying that it’s aware of the problem but defended its approach. Here’s the studio’s statement in full:
We are aware of the problem with long initial loading times, but thanks to this decision we were able to shorten any loading times during missions, respawns, and fast travel to a minimum:
fast travel 4-15s
load last checkpoint (depend on situation) 15-30s
Restart mission 25s

Ultimately we feel like this inconvenience is rewarded with a comfortable experience once the game is loaded.
We’re not sure if CI intends to address this in a future patch or not but we’ll keep our readers posted.
