'Project MALLOW' is a "Brutally Difficult" 2D Platformer Heading to PC and Mobile this Fall
Brutally difficult platformers are nothing new, but they've often had a rough road on mobile touchscreen devices as the genre typically demands the precision of physical controls. Developer Aggressive Combustion Game Studios is trying to tackle this problem by taking a different approach to controls with their first game Project MALLOW, which uses something that's more touchscreen-friendly than a set of virtual buttons. You play as a sentient marshmallow trying to escape a dangerous candy factory, and you accomplish this by pulling back on your character and slingshotting him (her") around the screen, using your marshmallow's natural stickiness to help you along the way. Check out the trailer for Project MALLOW.

The slingshotting platformer isn't exactly a new concept, and in fact another white cube of food was controlled in a similar fashion in the To-Fu Fury [$0.99] series, and the brilliant HoPiKo [$1.99] also made the hardcore platformer possible with smart swipe controls. Project MALLOW looks to be on a similar path of success. It will feature more than 100 levels, a storyline with full voice narration about the candy factory and its strange history, and "collectibles out the wazoo." Release is scheduled for some point this fall, and we'll be keeping an eye on how Project MALLOW shapes up.
