Spike Chunsoft Confirms that There Are No Plans for Cloud Saves and Controller Support in ‘Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair’ Anniversary Edition



Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair ($15.99) recently arrived on iOS and Android following Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc ($15.99) which released earlier in the year. Both the premium ports are excellent and my new go to way to experience the first two Danganronpa games again. Check out my reviews of them here and here. I was disappointed with the lack of controller support and cloud saves in both releases and reached out to Spike Chunsoft about whether the games would be updated to add them in the future. The company confirmed to me that there are no plans to add controller support and cloud saves in the future. While the confirmation was just for the second game, it is safe to assume that as of now, the Danganronpa games on iOS and Android will not have cloud saves and controller support. The data download needed in the second game that I mentioned in my review is also confirmed to be because of Apple’s size restrictions for the App Store.
What is a bit more disappointing is that Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair‘s notch issue for the interface also likely will not get fixed forcing players on iPhone X and later screen sizes to play essentially in fixed orientation. Hopefully Spike Chunsoft considers adding controller support at least since these games are all on PS4 and PS Vita and with iOS natively supporting more than just MFi controllers.
