The Latest ‘Puyo Puyo’ Title, ‘Puyo Puyo Champions’, Arrives May 7th

SEGA seems to be getting serious about making Puyo Puyo a core franchise, and there are at least a couple of things that need to be done for that to happen. First, the franchise needs to find the popularity in the West that has eluded it for so long. Puyo Puyo Tetris was a nice step towards that, mixing the franchise with a very familiar brand. Second, it needs to capitalize on the popularity of online multiplayer gaming. That’s where Puyo Puyo Champions comes in. As the localized version of a game known in Japan as Puyo Puyo eSports, you can tell it is very interested in ESPORTS. But if you just want to play locally instead of online, you can do that too.
