Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 5th, 2020. In today’s article, we’ve got a couple of news items related to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to go over before we get into the summaries of today’s new releases. There are four new games on the eShop today, serving as a nice appetizer for the usual jam-packed Thursday and Friday drops. The list of new sales today isn’t big, but it’s got a lot of goodies in it thanks to Bethesda running a sale in connection with QuakeCon. Let’s get to it!

‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ Updates with New Stage and More

A new version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate dropped today, making a number of adjustments to the game but most notably adding a new smaller version of the Battlefield stage. Perfect for up close and personal fights between two players, it seems. You can set Small Battlefield as a Preferred Rule for online battles if that’s the juice you’re craving. All of the Battlefield stages have seen their music selection expanded, so you can now listen to any of the tunes from the game while battling on them. There were also some under-the-hood improvements to the online mode in this update, including changing the threshold for Elite Smash eligibility to allow more players in.
