Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for October 12th, 2020. In today’s article, we’ve got Mini-Views of a few recent releases including TTV2, Adventures of Chris, and Space Avenger: Empire of Nexx. We also have a look at a few new releases that hit the eShop over the weekend, along with the usual incoming and outgoing lists of sales. It’s a little on the lighter side today, but things will definitely be heating up as the week goes on. Let’s dive in!

Adventures of Chris ($14.99)

I’ll say this much: Adventures of Chris ended up being a much better game than I initially expected. I have some complaints, of course. The hit detection isn’t in your favor, leading to unnecessary damage as you try to attack enemies. Until you earn a few abilities, Chris feels poorly equipped to defend himself, and it doesn’t feel like it was intended to be that way. Some of the humor is really mean-spirited. Push through the early awkward bits and you end up with a rather enjoyable and sometimes very clever platformer. Chris’s balloon powers make for an intriguing twist on what could have been a very plain game. Note that this is not a Metroidvania, but rather something more along the lines of a Mega Man X game where you can choose your stage order and explore them to find items and abilities hidden about.
