Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for January 18th, 2021. In today’s article, I finally catch up on a bunch of games I’ve had piled up for review. On top of that, there are several new releases to look at, though none of them are what I would describe as a must-have. We’ve got summaries of them anyway, of course. Finally, we’ve got a healthy list of new sales and all of the outgoing sales to round things out. Let’s get to it!

Epitaph ($12.99)

Usually the absence of one particular feature isn’t enough to drag a game down all that much, but in the case of Epitaph the lack of online multiplayer is a real issue. There’s a really well thought-out battle system here, with lots of interesting strategic options and a lot of variety thanks to the assortment of characters you can choose from. But the single-player content rarely feels like it’s showing that system in the best light, and multiplayer is limited to local only. If you have a like-minded friend nearby that is willing to play with you, feel free to bump that score up a full point. Otherwise, this is a game that is all dressed up with almost nowhere to go. This game feels like a decidedly old school concept played from an unusual perspective, and I kind of dig it. It’s essentially an arcade-style shooter where you have to try to survive as long as you can against increasingly dangerous waves...
