The Extremely Stylish Dystopian Future Hoverboarding Game ‘Repulsive’ is On Sale for Just $1.99



Towards the end of February developer Punk Labs, who had previously brought us some awesome mobile games like Skeletomb and Raster Prime but who hadn’t really released anything for the past few years, announced that they finally had a brand new game in the works. It was called Repulsive and it was an open-world style skateboarding game heavily inspired by the classic arcade skating game 720º but with modern influences and a strange dystopian future setting where instead of everyone riding around on those clunky wheel-based skateboards everyone rocked a kick ass hoverboard instead. Oh, also there was a massive surveillance state watching your every move. It sounded really awesome! Well, not the surveillance state part. Then not even a month later Repulsive launched in the App Store and I was able to confirm firsthand that it was, in fact, awesome. There was a really nice feel to the physics as you simply cruised around the interesting little world and discovered all sorts of hidden secrets and details that hinted at a much larger universe that the game takes place in.
Repulsive had style and personality, and while it wasn’t your typical trick-focused skating game, it really captured the feeling of freedom of riding a skateboard and exploring the world around you.
