eBay announced updates for its iOS and Android applications, introducing a new One Time Password feature for users.
With the One Time Password feature, a user can sign in to their eBay account using a single code they receive in a text message. Once they enter the one-time code, they’ll stay signed in and won’t need to remember or enter their password the next time they want to browse eBay.
In addition, iOS users now have access to Touch ID authentication, which allows them to login to eBay using their fingerprints.

Elsewhere, eBay introduced support for Android Wear devices. Now, when a user receives an item notification on their Wear device, they’ll be able to view the item’s title, price, image, listing end time and more before opening their phone. Android Wear users can also read and reply to direct messages on their Wear devices. When sending replies, users can choose from a series of quick replies, or reply using their voices.
In a statement, Mrinalini Loew, senior director of mobile and accessibility at eBay, commented:
As we have increased the pace of innovation and mobile updates, we have quickly responded to user feedback to continue to make the mobile apps for both iOS and Android better for each user. With the addition of One Time Password, Touch ID Authentication and Android Wear, we?re continuing to make it easier for our customers to access our 1 billion listings, whenever, wherever.
