Facebook Testing Data Saver Feature for Messenger
One of the most common complaints about the flagship Facebook applications and the social network?s stand-alone Messenger apps is the amount of data they use.
A solution may be on the way for Messenger, as the latest Android beta version includes a Data Saver feature, Matthew Hughes of The Next Web reported.
According to Hughes, in standard mode, Messenger automatically downloads all content received by users, but in Data Saver mode (while using cellular data), users can select which individual photos and videos they wish to view, enabling them to skip content they are not interested in or want to view at a later time when they are connected via WiFi. The Data Saver feature also includes a counter that keeps users updated on how much data they have saved, Hughes reported.
