Google Photos Now Offers Improved Auto Enhance, ‘Looks’, More
Google released three updates in Google Photos, which will allow users to improve the appearance of their pictures.
First, Google said it improved the platform’s auto enhance feature. Users can activate auto enhance on a picture by tapping on a picture and then tapping the pencil button to edit it. From there, they can select the “Auto” option to see the enhanced version of the photo.
Next, Google Photos now offers 12 new “looks” that can be applied to each photo. These looks have names such as “Metro” and “Blush,” and they will change a picture in different ways.
In a blog post, Jingyu Cui, software engineer for Google Photos, explained the app’s looks: These unique looks make edits based on the individual photo and its brightness, darkness, warmth or saturation before applying the style. All looks use machine intelligence to complement the content of your photo, and choosing one is just a matter of taste.
Finally, the app’s new advanced editing tools allow users to manually edit the light and color of each image. For instance, under the light setting, users can tweak a photo’s exposure, contrast, highlights and more.
The updated Google Photos app is now rolling out to users on iOS and Android. These updates are also rolling out to Google Photos on the web.
