Google Photos Will Now Suggest Photo Rotations, More
Google announced the release of four new features in Google Photos on iOS, Android and the web.
First, Google Photos will now help users “rediscover old memories” of the people in their most recent photos. Specifically, the platform will automatically create galleries of older photos, containing the same people in a user’s most recent photos.
Second, Google Photos will now automatically create galleries containing highlights from a user’s photos.
In a blog post, Tim Novikoff, product manager of Google Photos, explained:
If you take a lot of photos of your child, for example, you may occasionally get a card showing the best ones from the last month. (Hint hint: grandparents would love to see these!)
Next, Google Photos will now automatically create animations from a user’s videos, which they can share with friends. Novikoff explained:
We look for segments that capture activity?a jump into the pool, or even just an adorable smile?and create short animations that are easy to share.
Finally, when Google Photos detects sideways pictures in a user’s library, it will now present these pictures to the user in a card that will allow them to quickly rotate them all at once.
As these new galleries and animations are created, users can access them in the platform’s Assistant tab.
Google Photos is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
