Google Will Let You Follow U.S. Election Results From Google Searches

As people across the U.S. head to the polls to cast their votes in the 2016 U.S. elections, Google announced that it will help users keep track of election results directly from its search results.
Specifically, when the polls close Tuesday, users will be able to see “detailed updates and results” of the presidential, senatorial, congressional and gubernatorial races, as well as information on state-level referenda and ballot propositions, in their Google search results. These results will be available in more than 30 languages around the world.

The main overview page of the election results hub will contain a look at the number of electoral votes awarded to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump, as well as an overview of the results from Senate and House races, among other information. In addition to this main overview page, users will be able to view tabs with more information about the presidential race, Senate races and more. The results hub will be updated every 30 seconds to provide users with up-to-date information.
Google previously released tools designed to help users register to vote and learn where to vote, as well as learn who’s on their ballots. In a blog post, Google said there has been a 233 percent increase in traffic for “how to vote” compared with 2012.
