Facebook announced the dates for its next F8 annual developer conference, but what happened to Flight, Twitter?s similar event for mobile developers"
Flight had taken place in October the past two years, but Twitter director of communications Will Stickney confirmed to Kurt Wagner of Recode that the social network shifted its focus to smaller, local events for developers.
Stickney shared the following statement with Wagner:
We heard feedback after last year’s Flight conference that small, more intimate events are where our developer community is seeing the most value. So instead of holding a single developer conference in San Francisco, we are hosting a series of regional developer events, continuing the momentum from our global #HelloWorld. Given the diversity of things developers are building with Twitter (from MoPub, to the Ads API [application-programming interface], to Gnip, Fabric and more), having more local events will enable us to engage with our community in a much more personal way. Other sources told Wagner a Flight conference for this year was tentatively planned before it was scrapped.
