The Facebook-owned photo- and video-sharing network said in an email to SocialTimes that the NFL account now has 8.4 million followers, up from 5.3 million at the beginning of 2016, and the total number of players with more than 1 million followers rose from seven to 16 over the same time period.
The 10 most-followed NFL players on Instagram as of Jan. 25 were:

Odell Beckham Jr., 7.2 million
Cam Newton, 3.6 million
Russell Wilson, 2.8 million
J.J. Watt, 2.5 million
Richard Sherman, 1.9 million
Dez Bryant, 1.9 million
Ezekiel Elliott, 1.7 million Antonio Brown, 1.5 million
Rob Gronkowski, 1.5 million
Colin Kaepernick, 1.5 million.

For comparison?s sake, the 10 most-followed NFL players on Jan. 25, 2016, were:

Finally, Instagram said team accounts have seen their follower counts grow by an average of 35.6 percent over the past year, led by the New England Patriots with 2.3 million followers, up from 1.8 million.
